Tuesday 13th June - Windsurf **** The Dip at Felixstowe - sunny and hot.

Foil - 18.04 knot max, 17.25 knot ave, 10.87 knot hour, 15.64 knot mile, 63.68 km., 13.59 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Thunderbird 6.5.

Apparently its now officially a heatwave as another hot and sunny day come to Felixstowe with days and days to come, we are in desperate need of some rain but not much of that coming! With low water at two I was in no hurry to get down to The Dip to make the most of the NE breeze arriving around 12.40 after dropping Mag off at Jacobs Ladder for a walk. Michael was ready to foil with 5.8 but the sea looked fantastic, super smooth but the wind seemed to have eased, Andy had his wing board ready but was not sure what to pump up especially as Michael was not going great at this point, in the end he pumped up his 6m wing while I rigged 6.5. Launching in really clear water, well clear for Felixstowe it had all the makings of a 5 star session, flying along in warm sunshine in smooth water just brilliant, I was slowly beating up the coast as was going to have a run into Bawdsey bay but the wind dropped and I had a couple of floundering runs making it back to The Dip before the wind picked up a little so I decided to head off down the coast making it to the pier in two runs, running downwind broad is such great fun. Gybing at the pier my next turn was Wadgate post one and a half miles offshore ending up at The Manor as the wind eased again and I started to worry about getting back as the tide had turned now! I need not have worried as the wind really picked up, now gusting to at least knots making the beat really good but the sea did pick up, so the challenge now was keeping the board out of the water! I made it back in about 14 tacks having fun with a yacht heading the same way. I then had some nice runs in front of The Dip in the strongest winds of the day, Michael and Andy had gone but there was a winger and windsurfer up at kite beach. Nothing fast today and I was surprised to have sailed nearly 40 miles being out non-stop for well over three hours! I am now knackered, was going to have tomorrow off but it might be sailable again so might give it another day!

PS - I forgot a couple of things, I was lucky enough to get a small photo in the local paper and I spoted a red kite over the house this morning while doing my exercises in the back garden, the gulls were not impressed!
